2009
Jamey Parks has proven himself as a big mountain ripper and dedicated skier. The Levitation Project has always been stoked to have Jamey on board. Always ready to wake up for a Dawn patrol and always ripping big nasty lines. We caught up with Jamey enjoying salt lake in the summer.

So you have been skiing for a while… What was your first pair of skis? What was your favorite trick to do as a kid? who were the ski heroes you looked up to as a kid? What were your goals when you were a kid that you have achieved as a skier?
-I think they were green dragons, I can hardly remember them, my next skis were 100cm fischers. Once I learned to do a heli I’d do it whenever & wherever I could. From racing I’d watch the world cups: Ingamar Stenmark, the smoothest skier, and franz klamer, the craziest. I loved the warren miller movies. blizzard of aahs blew my mind: plake and Schmidt.
What was it like to go to the X-GAMES?
-It was pretty damn fun, especially the first time when it was at mt. snow where I grew up skiing. Lots of my friends were there, there were a few days & nights of straight mayham.
How many Warren Miller Movies have you been in? 3

If you could go see any band anywhere in the world …who and where would it be?
Pink Floyd in Nagano, Japan… I hear Japan is killer.
Where have you traveled to because of skiing?
-All over the States, most of Western Europe, All over Canada, South America… I want to ski in eastern Europe and Japan

This is why Jamey wants to ski in Japan
If work with Will Wissman a lot, if you could use 5 words to describe Will Wissman what would they be?
-Dawn Photos American Spirits Skiing

Wissman working really hard
What has been the biggest sacrifice you have had to make over the years to follow your dreams?
-I’ve worked a lot of seasonal jobs, like most skiers. I always tried not to work very much during the winter. I was always extremely broke come spring… it was cool though, the winters were so fun I was always like: ok game off…work time now.

The sacrafice was obviously worth it! finding some un-tracked Utah pow
If you had your own TV show would it be better if it was fiction or a reality show?
Desk jockey guy who hikes in the dark to drop lines in the backcountry… its not that uncommon around here.

Jamey living his own reality TV fantasy in Mica Creek BC
What was your first winter in Utah like? Awesome, I travelled a lot and skied a lot of pow

Obviously Jamey is still loving Utah
What was the last joke that you heard? Something about being naked in a refrigerator,

You spend quite a few days at Snowbird what is your favorite part about skiing the Bird as opposed to other resorts?
Long runs, baldy laps, the tram deck, the bird has everything.

Jamey finding a little bit of everything at Snowbird
You were recently married and bought a house all in the same year….does that make you a grown up?
Ah yeah I guess it does. It’s a little different then when I was renting rooms for $300/mo. A few years back, I spent my rent money on the entry fee for the snowbird comp, and slept in the hallway (aka: the dojo) while my buddy took over the room for the month. Now I have to plan my days more carefully.
If you had your own helicopter what would the paint job look like?
It would have wicked color scheme like some pimped out 18 wheeler from the mid 70s.
So you have been skiing for Salomon for a few years what is it like to ski for them? What do you like about their skis?
I like that they are an innovative company, they are always leading the development of new ideas. I wouldn’t trade my skis, boots, or bindings for any others! Especially the last few years, they have been giving us skiers exactly what we’ve asked for, and making great equipment and gear.

Jamey loving his Salomon's
What other companies make your life a little easier?
Snowbird,Smith Optics, Backcounty.com, Discrete, Ogio, Surefoot…and…of course The Levitation Project!!
What are your plans for the upcoming season?
I’ll be in Utah most of the winter, juggling skiing with paying the mortgage. I’m hoping to squeeze in a couple trips as well.
Who do you need to say thanks to?
I’d like to thank all of the people & friends out there who have: done the driving, given me few extra days to pay the rent, mounted my skis for beer, and gave me jobs. I can’t forget to thank my wife Sandy. She understands my passion for skiing and moved here from France so we could be together.
